Digital Independence is a forum that brings together independent media makers in film, video, games, journalism, public policy and the digital media arts. They, and many others, share a desire to strengthen a more progressive media culture.
DI is helping further the indie media community by providing strategic consulting services, challenging “provocations,” a “forum” for dialog and links to the diverse and growing indie media scene.
David Rosen established DI in 2000 to examine how structural changes in society, economy and technology are fostering a new era of independent media.
To this end, he has worked with friends, associates and others to host DI-2001, the DI planning session (2002) and DI-2004. The Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation as well as other organizations supported these gatherings. DI-2008 is being planned.
David is currently completing the manuscript for “Shake-up: Independent Media & the Restructuring of the Culture Industry.”
