Digital Independence is a forum that brings together independent media makers in film, video, games, journalism, public policy and the digital media arts. They, and many others, share a desire to strengthen a more progressive media culture.
DI is helping further the indie media community by providing strategic consulting services, challenging “provocations,” a “forum” for dialog and links to the diverse and growing indie media scene.
DI was established in 2000 to examine how structural changes in society, economy and technology were fostering a new era of independent media. It grows out of a series of conferences supported by the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations to provide indie media makers with analyses of future developments of the media, technology, the marketplace and citizen empowerment.
